The Republican Party: It's time for a Revolt

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Time for a revolt? Yes, it is. It is actually long past due for one, and now is the time to start.

“The two enemies of the people are criminals and government,
so let us tie the second down with the chains of the constitution
so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”
Thomas Jefferson

All over the country Republicans have been losing elections, from here in New York to the National elections. Why? Simple, they have lost their way and have strayed so far from their base no one wants to support them or vote for them.

The Republicans have had their chance to set the agenda, but over the past eight years they proved that once in DC, they throw their constituents under the bus. I feel sorry for the people that call me from the RNC looking for donations, I give them an earful, tell them to pass on my thoughts and concerns to the supposed “Leadership”. I have refused to donate but still get letters and questionnaires in the mail. We know these are only pretentious efforts to make us believe we are helping to set the agenda. No, the only thing the RNC looks for is that check in the envelope. I have been tempted to send these back empty.

Now it seems that all the Leaders are scratching their heads wondering what they have done wrong. We need new leaders they say, yet the ones that come to the forefront are from the same group that had a part in putting us in the situation we are in today.

Why are they scratching their heads anyway? If they had been listening to us, as they say, they would know why we are in the losers seat. Their answer to the question? Well that was revealed by Limbaugh in an insiders report from the Republican Retreat. Their orders are to basically “Retreat”, and now GW Bush is saying we all must get along. Who are they trying to kid, what are they trying to hide? Basically they want us to surrender to the left. Surrender? Sorry that word is not in my vocabulary.

This weekend we had our first meeting of Primary Challenge. The agenda for the next couple of years is to find candidates to run for the Erie County Legislature and other seats that are up in the county. Next year we will be running candidates to challenge the Party committee seats, both Republican and Democrats. The politicos have been in their own world of greed and corruption for so long, it is time to clean house.

It’s time to bring Primary Challenge to the National level.

So how do we take back the Republican Party and Congress and rebuild? We have to do this on two fronts. Taking over the committees at the local level is one step and is a long and tedious process but one that must be done. Usually committee seats are only up every two years. Here in New York, that election just occurred, so we have two years to get the right people in place. We need people, people that are fed up and willing to stop sitting on their apathy, stop being keyboard activists, to get up and do something about it.

The next step is one that has to start now, and the House of Representatives is a primary concern. Searching out Reagan Conservative Republicans to run in a Primary against the incumbents is the place to focus. We need to list the RINO’s that need to be eliminated in the next election and the Primary is where they are most vulnerable. By listing them now, making this list very public and in their faces, we can hold them accountable for their votes over the next two years. If they know we are coming and they lose, maybe, just maybe they will get the message that the base is taking the Party back..

We are fed up with the excessive spending, the bloated government, the taxes, the patronage, regulations, restrictions, earmarks, government intervention, government control and the surrendering of all we stand for as Reagan Conservatives. Smaller, more efficient, less intrusive government, the free markets, Capitalism and the infrastructure that made this the Great Country we are. We have become a government dependent society where government supposedly has the answers for everything. The same people that got us here are going to fix this mess? I think not.

Last I knew Congress had an approval rating of 12. This proves the point that WE, The People are no longer in control. It is time to put We The People back in charge.

The Republican Party: In need of a good revolt.

The first Gallup poll out on the Obama stimulus plan shows a divided country, with Republicans in a distinct minority and in opposition.

Democrats support the three-quarters of a trillion dollar plan (67 to 19 percent) as do Independents (54 to 37 percent). But Republicans stand in opposition (56 to 34 percent).

But taking a look at Republican Party reality inside the Washington beltway, we see a rudderless ship, out of touch with the grass roots of its own party.

Jacquie Walker Blog: Primary 2008 – View from the Newsroom & Beyond

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

It was a strange but fun time at the studio last night. Jacquie Walker joined us for about 15 minutes or so and came back to visit often although she was never far away, we were right in the News studio.

Jericka Duncan was with us all night and she learned alot about the Blogging community. We all wished our segments were longer but this is a first for them and we hope to be doing more in the near future. Count me in.

Jacquie Walker Blog: Primary 2008 – View from the Newsroom & Beyond

There’s a new addition to our primary election coverage this year — bloggers! (Okay, I get that I am blogging about bloggers — and that is strange in many ways!)

bloggers-at-work.jpg

Tony Fracasso of Speakupwny.com, Jim Ostrowski of Freeny.org, and Rus Thompson of Albanysinsanity.com are in the Channel 4 studios tonight writing their thoughts on this election and responding to feedback on their blogs. It’s a measure of the prominent role that blogs now play in the political process and the vital role of interactivity. Through the web, viewers and voters have a way to speak, react, and participate in politics beyond the voting booth.

Interestingly, the bloggers are sitting side by side in the studio with a leading local political figure who does it the old-fashioned way. News Four Political Analyst and former long-time Erie County Democratic Chairman Joe Crangle

Rus Thompson Endorses Sam Hoyt

Rus Thompson Endorses Sam Hoyt!

Yes you read that right. As the guy that ran against Sam Hoyt two years ago, I never thought I would come to this day – but I am supporting Sam Hoyt. Sam is Anti-Casino and pro Charter Schools – so on those points we agree. We have our differences – I don’t think he did enough on the Tolls issue, he’s pro-gay marriage and is pro abortion.. On the last points that’s between God and Sam to resolve. Kavanaugh is worse IMHO.

The reason I am throwing my support to to Sam is because I think Sam’s opponent has run a dirty smear campaign the likes of which I have not seen in twenty years. And here’s an example of politics at its worst. In the Hoyt race, Barb and her surrogates have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars bombing the heck out of voters with issues that are just too filthy to see print. With all the issues facing upstate that need to be resolved, they are more concerned about Sam’s past sex flings than pushing for better policy in Albany. Bottom line – if Pigeon and Golisano were interested in Really Reforming New York, they’d take their money and run candidates on issues.”

I see Pigeons signature all over this smut that has filled the airwaves and television. I have yet to figure out any kind of tactics in who they have endorsed yet they promote a better government? With this crap? It appears to me and my political eye that this is simply a vendetta against things of the past. It’s sad that a billionaire like Golisano has given someone like Pigeon money to do with what he wants.

The same type of sex crap is going on in the race to defeat Mike Cole, My friend Leonardo Roberto is running against Mike Cole, Lenny has stayed above this crap yet who comes screaming to the forefront using the same slimy tactics? Pigeon pushing for Corwyn.

For the opponents to claim they have nothing to do with it, may have some validity but they sure as hell can stop it. By sitting back and allowing this to go on should show you their true character and that is NOT what we need in this sickening political free for all.

If your a Democrat, vote for Sam.
If your a Republican, vote for Len Roberto.

DiPietro Challenges Volker to serve out term

East Aurora, New York, September 3, 2008. With rumors rampant that Dale Volker will not serve out his term if elected, State Senate candidate David DiPietro (Rep. 59th) challenged Volker to commit to serving his full, two-year term, if elected.

“All too often, Albany politicians make secret deals to leave office early in exchange for some sweet job elsewhere. Then, the voters are deprived of a primary election and the taxpayers must pay for an expensive election in the dead of winter when few people vote. Will that be Dale’s parting gift to his constituents?” DiPietro asked.

DiPietro noted that before the campaign, he got a call from Republican boss Jim Domagalski, who called Volker’s seat “my seat” and threatened a “nasty” campaign.

Will Republicans who vote for Dale Volker really be voting corporate lawyer Domagalski?

DiPietro Signs on to Paladino Proposal on Constitution

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

If I’m not mistaken, only David has signed on to this Constitutional Convention call so far. This is an excellent insight into his character. Vote for David DiPietro on Sept 9th if you live in the district.

DIPIETRO FOR SENATE
“A Fresh Start for a Brighter Future”

East Aurora, New York, September 2, 2008. Civic leader Carl Paladino and State Senate candidate David DiPietro (Rep. 59th) will hold a press conference tomorrow (Thursday) at 1:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Ellicott Square in downtown Buffalo to announce DiPietro’s support for Paladino’s proposal for a new state constitutional convention.

In a letter to Paladino, DiPietro wrote:

“When a state’s economy declines for fifty straight years, and when one region, Upstate, consistently lags behind Downstate in economic progress and is losing its young people to other states, there must be something wrong with its fundamental law, the Constitution.

“I will also propose bold new reform measures such as:

1. abolishing public authorities and their ability to secretly add to state debt;
2. equalizing private and public sector wages and benefits;
3. abolishing gerrymandering of legislative districts by allowing citizens to sue wherever districts are not geometrically compact;
4. allowing petition and referenda;
5. abolishing special districts and consolidating such districts into existing local or county governments.”

Carl Paladino endorses DiPietro over Volker

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

my-friend-carl-paladino.jpg

Carl Paladino endorses DiPietro over Volker, great video clip from our friends over at ArtVoice. One thing you have to say about my friend Carl, he says it like it is and means it. For Carl to endorse David that should tell you much about Davids Character, what an honor. Carl is right, Volker’s time is up.

Carl has done more for the city of Buffalo and Erie county than any one man I can think of. Not only for the benefit of the people but Carl has a huge Heart and has individually helped out more people than any of us would ever know. I am Honored to call Carl Paladino my Friend.

Listen to the video clip, I hosted it here as not to steal any of ArtVoices webspace.

“My 3 Minutes” – Carl Paladino is No Fan of Dale Volker

I stopped by Carl Paladino ’s office yesterday and happened to have my video cam with me, so I asked Carl if he wanted to talk about anything. Never a man to hesitate when it comes to expressing an opinion, his topic for the day was republican state senator Dale Volker. Unfortunately, the video was terrible because I forgot to change the settings from a night time shoot in a dim music club. Nevertheless, here’s the audio. Expect more opinions from Carl and others in the community on Artvoice.com as we begin a new series of audio-video blogs titled “My 3 Minutes”.

Shhhhh! Dale Volker endorsed by the CSEA

East Aurora, New York, September 2, 2008. Dale Volker has been endorsed by the Civil Service Employees Union (CSEA) but apparently neither Volker nor the CSEA wants the public to know about it. His opponent David Dipietro has published the endorsement on the internet. The pamphlet apparently was sent only to union members.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t222/jamesost/smokinggun.jpg

DiPietro remarked, “I have said all along that Dale Volker is a tool of the special interests and this stealth endorsement is the smoking gun. Dale consistently stands up for the interests of public employee unions at the taxpayers’ expense. And he doesn’t want you to know about it.”

CSEA gave Volker a contribution of $5,000 on July 28th. Volker has spent nearly $100,000 on TV and radio ads in recent weeks.

Volker has consistently voted to approve the “temporary” one percent sales tax in Erie County, a pro-CSEA position.

DiPietro noted that public employees earn 28% more than private sector workers and that Erie County has seventy percent more government employees than Alleghany County, Pennsylvania where Pittsburgh is located.

“Dale Volker’s free-spending ways have earned him the devotion of the special interests but helped make New York the highest taxed state in the union,” DiPietro said.

DiPietro demands that Volker fire staffer

David DiPietro’s statement in response to charges against Volker staffer Harry Wahl

This morning, EastAurora.org published an investigative report by their editor Joe Logan which charges a member of Dale Volker’s Senate staff, Harry Wahl, with possible criminal misconduct.

The story alleges that Wahl made threats against me and my family and to David and Laura Gunner if the Gunners continued to support me for state senator.

Here is the link: http://www.eastaurora.org/article.aspx?artno=831

The article reads in part:
“Gunner went on to detail more of the conversation. “He told my wife, ‘If you are friends with Theresa DiPietro you should start saving her moving boxes, because when I am done with her husband, she will be divorced. He will lose his house and his business.’ Then he told us he had the resources available to make it happen.”
“Initially he thought it was a joke, but soon found out it was not.
“Who was the man that approached him? None other than the Harry Wahl. Wahl is husband of Town of Aurora councilmember Kelly Wahl and an Aurora resident. He is also the Chief of Staff / Director of District Operations for State Senator Dale Volker according to his page on LinkedIn.”

A prior report at NewWNYPolitics disclosed threats made by Republican Party Chair Jim Domagalski that the campaign would get “nasty” if DiPietro did not drop out of the race.

These thug-like tactics are one of the reasons that most citizens refuse to run for office or even get involve in campaigns. This has to stop or we will never be able to reverse our half-century of decline in this region.

I call on Dale Volker to immediately fire Harry Wahl and to condemn the behavior of Jim Domagalski. If this kind of misconduct is allowed to continue, the Republicans will have little chance of retaining control of the state senate.

I am also calling on Majority Leader Dean Skelos to likewise condemn and repudiate these tactics
