Embattled toll collector returns to work

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Sent this out to all the media…..
David Zelonis put back to work? How can this happen?

Last night I was informed that toll collector David Zelonis has been put back to work. Zelonis was suspended for 30 days without pay for sending me and my family threatening emails for almost two years.

The NYS Thruway Authority suspended him and claimed they would be investigating his actions and they would be looking to terminate his employment for breaking TA policy by sending me and my family threatening emails. Well the investigation has not started and after his 30 day suspension he has been put back to work due to Civil Service Law? His next court date is July 15th and the TA is saying there is a hearing for him in August. August?

First of all if this had happened in the private sector Zelonis would have been fired. How could a business keep an employee that had been threatening customers. It would not happen.

Not in NY State and the protections the unions have on their employees. Any investigation should have started immediately. First Zelonis has admitted to sending the email threats, he admitted to everyone that I had sent to Lt. Savage by putting his initials on them. Now he plead not guilty and wants to plea to a lesser crime than Aggravated Assault.

What bothers me the most and should bother every New Yorker is, how did a toll taker get any information from the EZ Pass system? How, they are an entity of their own and are simply a collection agency for the TA. There is and was some collusion between Zelonis and someone in the EZ Pass office. That is most likely how he found out where I lived. What else is going on between these two bureaucratic authorities? What kind of information do they have access too? Your privacy is no longer private. You all should be concerned.

Grand Island toll collector seeks reduced charge in e-mail threats

Friday, June 19th, 2009

Reduced charge? I don’t think so. ACD? NO! If this had happened in the private sector he would have been fired no questions asked. Not in NY where union employees are protected.

190-Grand Island Bridge Toll removal Bill

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

This Bill was written by Senator George Maziarz and myself at the end of 2007, it was introduced in the Senate in 2008. Went through all the committees and then failed to make it to the floor at two different times. Why? We are not sure but we deducted that Bruno and Silver stopped it from coming to a vote, they knew it would pass and even though all our politicians claim they want to eliminate the “Authorities” none of them even move at the chance to start downsizing the Thruway Authority.

Last night Wednesday May 27th Senator Antoinne Thompson had a meeting with LaSalle Pride in Niagara Falls. I was bound and determined to pin him down and get him to reintroduce this Bill into the Senate this year. This has already been done in the Assembly and you can see the names on it as cosponsors and the Bill sponsor Sam Hoyt. Why not the Senate? Thompson is the Senator from this district and as a Democrat he is the one with the power now to not only introduce it but, to get it to the floor and get it passed. He told me, “When the Democrats take over the Senate, the tolls will come down”. I have been patiently waiting but as the year has crept by my patience has gotten very thin especially after I got the Governor to agree to sign the Bill into Law at the March 4th town hall meeting in Niagara Falls.

Toll Taker Suspended for Allegedly Making Threats

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I was actually shocked that the thruway authority via Donna Luh did this so fast. Apparently the media coverage was great, the public pressure intense enough they had no choice but to step up and do the right thing. Not only has the feedback been incredible toward me, it has also been that way with the media. The local newspaper (Grand Island Dispatch) has been receiving calls and emails demanding coverage and calling for Zelonis to be fired. So all of this is not just me, supporters have done this too! So Thank you all, I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the support.

Now, just think what we can do when we all work together as a team! Albany! Can you hear us yet? Better start listening.

1st look: anti-toll activist, e-mailer in Court

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I have to say, I have never seen media chase down anyone like I saw them chase down this guy. After he was read the riot act by the Judge they ducked out the back door and the media followed from the rear and chased him down in to the car and some even followed him to his house. He refused comment and simply walkked away. His Lawyer said, “Tricks are for kids” Quoting Denny Crane. Maybe that is where he went to law school.

Toll collector should be fired if he’s found guilty

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

david-zelonis
Well there he is the cyberstalker and toll taker. Does he look familiar to anyone? He does to me now and it seems he has been there forever all the time hating his job. He is a coward and refuses to even look at me. Maybe now he will face reality that he violated thruway authority policy for close to two years, blatantly doing what HE wanted to do while saying to hell with his bosses. He is a miserable human being, ask his neighbors.
Thank you Carol Ennis for taking the time to write this to the Buffalo News. Your comments are comforting.

Any changes since town hall meeting

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

The only movement on the toll issue has been backwards. Who’s at fault for this? Senator Antionne Thompson. Instead of reintroducing the one Bill that would actually work and the one the Governor said he would sign still has not moved because this year a Democrat has to do it and Thompson is the one that needs to do it. How can the governor sign into Law a Bill that has not been submitted? He can’t and Thompson is completely at fault. This year he submitted a bill that asks the thruway authority to do it, a bill that will have no effect and will not work. Another lying, loser represents this district.
