They just don’t get it. This is not the time to be adding pork to anything. This state and country is in fiscal dire straits and they want to hand out more goodies to buy votes using our tax dollars. It’s ludicrous and has to stop. We have to get the fiscal house in order not continue on like nothing is going on. But, we are stuck on stupid here…..
Assembly Democrats have been asked to submit lists of organizations that need state funding so those requests could be included in the budget, the Times Union is reporting. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, told the Times Union he would push for the additional spending in the $132.5 billion budget.
The move was criticized by E.J. McMahon, a senior fellow at the fiscally conservative Manhattan Institute .
“The basic role of government is not to let them behave as little mini-Bill Gateses handing out checks to people in their districts,” he told the Times Union. “This is pork-barrel government at its worst.”
