How could this be happening? The tolls are still up and they are supposed to keep the rif raf off the island. Because of the tolls we have NO crime on Grand Island… Well that is at least what I am being told from the small minority of people that want to keep Grand Island a toll payers gated community.

GRAND ISLAND, N.Y. Press release – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that the Sheriff's Office is investigating several residential burglaries that occurred during the daytime hours in the Town of Grand Island.
Seven houses have been entered since late February, with a wide-variety of items having been taken.
No one was at home at any of the residences when the crimes were committed. Entry into the houses was usually made by forcing open a rear or side door.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents is asked to call Detective Dennis Fitzgibbon at 858-7755.
Sheriff Howard asks that all Grand Island residents be alert to any strange vehicles or people in their neighborhood, and to call 911 should they see anything that appears to be suspicious.
