Governor, legislative leaders meet secretly

They met, had tea and crumpets and got NOTHING accomplished and all left singing “This is the end, my only friend, the end by Jim Morrison and the Doors. We should all be singing, Say it ain’t so Gov Please, say it ain’t so, by Roger Daltry.

But why do they admit they met in secret? We have always been told that we now have an open and transparent government now in Albany? hmmm, could it be they lied to us? No, say it ain’t so. I thought they passed legislation to stop these secret meetings and we would see open debates during negotiations. I wonder if Danny Donahue was there representing the unions that have a choke hold on us, if he wasn’t there personally, he was definitely there in spirit so hold onto your wallets, I smell taxes, fees all being increased on the local level because of state mandates and on the state level. They wouldn’t know how to cut off a wart if it was on their nose.

Governor, legislative leaders meet secretly – WRGB CBS 6 Albany

Gov. David Paterson and legislative leaders refuse to say if any progress is being made in an unannounced Sunday meeting of the leaders two days before an emergency economic session.

An Associated Press reporter who learned of the meeting was escorted from Paterson’s state offices and told there would be no public disclosure of what transpired in the closed-door meeting.

Senate Republican leader Dean Skelos and Democratic Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver never embraced any of Paterson’s proposed spending cuts and refused to provide their own ideas to address a projected $2 billion budget deficit this year.

Paterson has called for cuts in school aid growth and health care, areas fiercely protected in the Legislature by special interests led by public worker unions.
