Everything needs to be on the table and considered. Of course the unions are going to be against anything and everything, but what is more important? The over all economic stability of this state, or patronage jobs?

Gov. Paterson says Layoffs an Option
ALBANY — As the bad fiscal news continues in New York state, legislative leaders who’ve pledged to work to cut spending are holding their ground. Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos says the state shouldn’t consider laying off public employees. But Governor David Paterson says everything is on the table, and he’s meeting soon with union leaders.
Paterson says he expects the state deficit to grow to two billion dollars by the end of the fiscal year on March 31st, and there is no more time to wait for data to act. Meanwhile, Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver says he plans to wait for future fiscal reports to see if more cuts are needed.
