Legislative Leaders: We’ll Come To Albany If Necessary? I would hope so, last time you went nothing of any substance was accomplished. If and when they do go back, hold on to your wallets because the Democrats in the Assembly headed by the unaccountable Sheldon Silver Will RAISE OUR TAXES. And Governor Paterson has already said he would consider it. Yup, same crap different day, Shelly has slapped another Governor into submission. God help us if the Democrats take the Senate. Right now the Republicans are the only ones actually trying to cut our taxes.

Politics on the Hudson

State legislative leaders said today that they are ready to return to Albany to cut more of the state budget if needed.

It’s a different tone than lawmakers had a few months ago when some of them, including Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, scoffed at the notion that the state’s revenues are in worse than expected shape.

Of course, this time Paterson didn’t take a shot at them by saying they would have to come back and end their vacations.

Silver (far right) had a different stance today, saying in a statement “I have spoken to Gov. Paterson and I and my Assembly colleagues stand ready to assist in any way we can. I have every confidence that we will weather this situation with the same determination and resourcefulness that we have weathered adversity in the past.”

A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (far left) said, “We’ll continue to monitor the fiscal situation and we will work with Governor Paterson and the Assembly and do what is appropriate and necessary to keep the budget in balance.”
