My god, this guy is all over the place with really no strategy. I can see some of the races but others make no sense whatsoever. I should be advising Golisano, not Pidgeon.
Golisano backs NY Legislature candidates – NewsFlash – SiLive.com
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Billionaire B. Thomas Golisano and his political funding committee that aims to reform New York state government has endorsed 22 Republicans for the GOP-dominated Senate and 25 Democrats who hope to take the majority in the fall elections.
Among incumbent endorsements, Golisano picked 20 Republican senators and 19 Democratic senators.
Golisano previously endorsed three challengers to Assembly incumbents: Democrat Barbara Kavanaugh against incumbent Assemblyman Sam Hoyt in a Buffalo district; Republican Jane Corwin over Republican Assemblyman Mike Cole in Erie County; and Republican Paula Banks-Dahlke over Democratic Assemblywoman Francine DelMonte in Niagara County.
The Assembly ethics committee is investigating a claim by a local political blogger that Hoyt, who is married, had an affair with a woman legislative staffer who once was an intern.
Last year Cole was censured by the Assembly and lost his committee assignment after he was accused of spending the night at the apartment of an Albany intern. He has maintained that nothing inappropriate happened that would violate the chamber’s ban on fraternizing with interns. Cole has said he stayed because he was drinking and chose not to drive.
Golisano plans to spend at least $5 million on candidates he supports this year.
Golisano’s endorsements Monday in Senate races that could be close and play into which party holds the majority included:
_Democrat Brian Foley who faces incumbent Republican Sen. Caesar Trunzo, in Suffolk County.
_Democrat B.K. Keramati who faces Republican Sen. Hugh Farley in Schenectady County.
_Democrat David Nachbar who faces Republican Sen. James Alesi in Monroe County.
_Democrat Richard Dollinger, a former state senator, who faces incumbent Republican Sen. Joseph Robach in Monroe County.
_Democrat Kathy Konst who faces Republican Sen. Dale Volker in Erie County.
Republicans hold a one-vote majority over the Senate they have controlled for decades.
“Responsible New York will support people who are willing to act for reform and not just talk about it,” said the committee’s co-chairwoman, Laureen Oliver, former chairwoman of the state Independence Party.
