DiPietro calls Volker “weak link” in GOP plans to retain senate
East Aurora, New York, July 3, 2008. David DiPietro, Republican candidate for state senator in the 59th district (Erie, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario) today called Dale Volker the “weak link” in Republican plans to keep control of the state senate.
“The apparent entry into the race by Kathy Konst showed that the Democrats think they can beat Dale Volker by tying him into Joe Bruno’s failed tenure as majority leader, DiPietro said. “To keep control of the senate, the Party needs new faces with new ideas.”
“Losing the senate to the Democrats would mean that liberal Democrats from New York City would be in complete control of state government,” DiPietro noted. “That’s why professional petition workers from outside our area are in the 59th District passing petitions for Ms. Konst.
Mr. DiPietro welcomed Konst’s entrance into the race and urged a campaign based on the issues. “There is one big issue in this race,” he said, “shrinking state government so the economy can grow again.”
