This actually sounds like all politicians not just corrupt lawyers. The system is designed to protect them and the unions. To hell with the education which is failing and to hell with the children. Even though they always use the children as the number one excuse why budgets and taxes continue to increase every single year beyond the inflation rate.
Suffolk Life Newspapers - New York’s New Mafia
Mafia is the name for organized crime. When we hear it, we all think of a lot of old desperadoes, sitting around a card table, figuring out how to rob, steal and con.
The new Mafia consists of licensed attorneys at law, who have figured out how to steal from the people who pay school taxes from Niagara to Montauk. Although these attorneys work part-time as consultants to school boards, they have had themselves classed as full-time employees who are now eligible for New York State pensions.
What started out to be a couple of rogue Long Island attorneys ripping off some school districts has now become common practice throughout New York State. Some of the attorneys even had the audacity to claim they worked at several different school districts at the same time and collected pension credits from each school district. Their justification is everyone is doing it; not that it was illegal, unethical or even immoral.
New York State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo has instituted a statewide investigation. The investigation should not be limited to attorneys in school districts. Cuomo should also look at anyone who has had employment with any municipality or government as a consultant or agent.
What might have been a one-shot violation of the law now appears to be a widespread practice where everyone who can has dipped into the gravy. We should all follow Attorney General Cuomo’s investigation closely.
And why not?
