First congratulations to Jon Powers on his endorsement from the Amherst Democrats. But wow, Dan Ward gets it over his sister-in-law Iannello/Ward. But I understand she withdrew her name. I can imagine how sad it would look if Dan lost to her, after all isn’t Dan a councilman there? Purely political move by both of them.

On Wednesday evening, April 23, the Amherst Democratic Committee voted on its endorsements for the offices of Member of the House of Representatives from New York’s 26th Congressional district, and of Member of the State Senate from the 61st district. Each committeeperson who voted received a number of votes equal to the number of votes that Eliot Spitzer earned for Governor on the Democratic line in 2006 in the election precinct that the committeeperson represents.
The final tally of votes in the endorsement for Member of the House of Representatives was as follows:
Jon Powers: 7,119 votes
Jack Davis: 5,151 votes
Alice Kryzan: 3,499 votes

Before the vote was taken for the State Senate seat Leg. Michele Iannello took herself out of the running for the Amherst endorsement. She is still in the race for the State Senate. Mark Manna pulled out the race entirely for family reasons.
The final tally of votes in the endorsement for member of the State Senate was as follows:
Dan Ward: 10,733 votes
Michele Iannello: 2,827 votes
Joe Mesi: 1,195 votes
Mark Manna: 0 votes
