I sent out a media request yesterday asking them to ask the Governor about the toll situation and the legislation to turn the 190 over to the state D.O.T.
It looks like Eileen Buckley came through with a quick answer from the Commissioner of Transportation. So Thank you Eileen, I appreciate it. Not quite what I had hoped for but I know you probably caught her off guard and she didn’t expect that question.
DOT Leader Declines to Weigh in on Grand Island Tolls
Eileen Buckley
BUFFALO, NY (2008-03-27) The leader of the State Department of Transportation appeared in Buffalo Wednesday.
But she was not ready to take any position a proposal that calls to transfer the Niagara Section of the Thruway over to the DOT to end the Grand Island Tolls.
WBFO News asked DOT Commissioner Astrid Glynn if she would weigh in on the proposed legislation that could soon appear before the State Legislature. The idea is to move the stretch of the 190 to the DOT so it would free up funds and allow for an end to the Grand Island Tolls. But Glynn says she is not ready to take a stance on this issue.
