College student left paralyzed after beating — Prosecution — Newsday.com

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The family of a University at Buffalo student allegedly beaten by three men last weekend says the student remains paralyzed from the waist down.

Michael Bliss is listed in serious condition at Erie County Medical Center. Family members say the 21-year-old junior from the Rochester suburb of Greece was kicked repeatedly in the face and head after leaving a Buffalo bar early Saturday morning.

Police arrested 23-year-old Kevin Rowland, 22-year-old Charles Jordan and 23-year-old Michael Gunderman. The three men, all from Buffalo, have been charged with assault. At least two are believed to be UB students.

Each are being held on $50,000 bail.

Police say the three men apparently didn’t know Bliss. Detectives are trying to determine what led to the fight.
