This has been a concern of mine from the very beginning of the Client #9 scandal. Where were the State Police that always guard the Governor where ever he goes? Spitzer, it has been said, kept the door unlocked in anticipation of the hooker showing up. Had the State Police been told to stand down?

What is the big deal you ask? Lets put it this way, if someone wanted to take out the governor they could have easily done so through the unlocked door, come in and put a bullet in him, talk about a risk… Then we also have the problem with blackmail etc, etc, etc…. So many things going on here, this is not going away anytime soon.

FEDS TO NY: HOLD OFF ON SPITZER PROBE

Federal prosecutors are asking New York authorities to hold off investigating the call-girl scandal that led to Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s resignation while a federal probe continues.

A spokesman for the state Inspector General’s office says they’ve been in contact with the U.S. attorney’s office, which asked them not to do anything because federal investigators are looking into all aspects of the case.

One question is what was known by the trooper detail that was responsible for Spitzer’s security round the clock. State Police have declined to comment. Federal prosecutors have charged four people with operating a prostitution ring that received money from Spitzer’s bank account.

Two troopers were with Spitzer on Feb. 13, when he stayed at the swank Mayfair Hotel in Washington. He spent several hours with a 22-year-old prostitute he knew as Kristen but whose real name is Ashley Alexandra Dupre.

Both troopers stayed in the same hotel, as did two of Spitzer’s aides, Erol Cockfield and Dan Cantor, according to state records.

The State Police internal probe is aimed at finding out how Spitzer, who registered for two separate rooms just for himself, could have cavorted with a hooker without the knowledge of his security detail.
