Radio station WECK 1230 AM will launch its new lineup next week with some familiar names behind the microphone, said station owner Richard Greene.
“I hope that the community will be satisfied with a lighter approach, a hometown approach, to local news talk,” said Greene, whose Culver Communications bought the station in November. “It’s all about fun radio.”
The morning show will be anchored by Western New York radio veterans Harv Moore and Tom Donohue, Greene said. Moore was most recently on the air at WHTT 104.1 FM. Donohue, whose real name is Tom McCray, is a Buffalo State College professor and longtime radio newsman most recently with WLKK 107.7 FM.
Tom Schuh, another veteran radio hand, will be operations director and handle news duties in the afternoon. Greene said he’s hired nine people, including some part-time employees, at the station.
Tradio, the show that’s part talk show, part classified ads, will be part of the morning lineup.
Scott Leffler, who hosts a Lockport-centered talk show on Culver’s WLVL 1340 AM, will host a 10 a.m. segment.
The afternoon will be dominated by conservative syndicated talkers like Bill O’Reilly, Dennis Miller and Neal Boortz. Fox Sports and Jim Bohannon will take the station through the overnight shift.
