		<description>Doesnt happen much, but i completely agree with you.  Why is that our politicians must have these BS stories about how they overcame this, or battled that as a kid growing up.  Like that somehow makes them fit to run government.  

Along the same lines, McCain, a bona fide war hero, went through hell as a prisoner of war.  Wonderful. He's a patriotic American and someone we should all honor and respect.  

My father served two tours in Vietnam and was injured during his service to his counrty.  Does this make him qualified to be President?  No.  

John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama are all Senators.  They are all intelligent individuals who are serious about their commitment to public service.  While we may disagree with their positions about individual issues, I think its safe to say, each one of them is qualified to be President, regardless of what happened to them as young adults.

This stuff reminds me of the "personal stories" they do about professional sports figures.  Like having a rough childhood makes someone throw a better curveball.  It just feeds our superficial culture that seems more interested in form than substance.</description>
