Satish Mohan~ PARTY POLITICS IN TOWN GOVERNANCE

satish-mohan.jpg

If can I can start by saying this first before I dissect Satish Mohans statement, I met Satish when he was running for Supervisor while at a Primary Challenge event. I consider him a friend, which is why I write this and why I am shocked at his decision to change “Parties”. I have said from our first meeting that I have always felt that whatever he did or said came directly from his heart and meant everything he said. So why this?

I can understand his frustration, I have seen it for myself over and over again. What he should do is call out everyone that is working against his agenda. In so many cases it’s personal greed, self aggrandizement and “Party” first that is the problem. Switching parties does not solve the problem. Does he really think that changing affiliation will get the Democrats to vote with him? I hope not, it is his agenda that they are against. Although voting against something because it’s the opposite parties idea happens all the time, just look at the Erie County Legislature.

I have documented over and over through the years that when a Republican was clocked in to the Legislature, it was sent directly to committee and never saw the light of day again. Why? Was it a bad idea? NO, it was because the enemy submitted it. Party politics is destroying this county and this state and is also doing a great job of destroying the country.

Why should it matter which side of the political aisle an idea comes from, why? It shouldn’t and it has got to stop, but it won’t, not on a large enough scale to make a difference anytime soon.

Just one example. These past two years I have been fighting to eliminate the tolls on the Grand Island bridges. No once has the opposite party even acknowledged the existence of the petition drive, the thousands of people that have signed it from all the parties. The Republican Assembly held hearings and I was invited, but they also invited Kathy Hochul and others that were simply invited to add their point of view and statistics to stopping the toll increase. The Republican Senators called a hearing that was canceled due to bad weather, I was invited as was Kathy Hochul and others.

Now the Democrat controlled Transportation committee held a hearing by invitation only, I was not invited but Hochul was. The Erie County Legislature Economic Development committee had a hearing. Hochul was invited, I was not, although I attended, I was not allowed to speak. Not once in that hearing was the petition, the thousands of signatories mentioned or attributed for getting the toll issue to the forefront. And this hearing was all about the Grand Island bridge tolls and it’s economic impact on the island. This hearing was hosted by Iannello and Kennedy, two very partisan political hacks IMHO.

In December I started emailing all my representatives in the Senate and Assembly about the idea to give the 190 to the D.O.T. The only one to respond was Senator George Maziarz. He picked up on the idea and on January 18th he sent me the draft of the legislation. Where was Thompson, Hoyt, DelMonte, Schimminger, etal? No where to be found, not one response from them at all. I was told repeatedly that this was phantom legislation, how phantom is it now.

Now, Thank the good Lord it has been picked up by Assemblyman Hoyt and co-sponsored by Thompson in the Senate.

The point I trying to make is that no matter who, a Democrat or Republican, that puts forth an idea that has merit, needs to be looked at and if benefits the good people of Erie County and Western New York should be adopted, put up for a vote and passed. Isn’t that the idea of a Representative Republic? YES, it is.

Party politics, greed, union money, self promotion, me,me,me, I,I,I, attitudes is what is killing us. Satish is absolutely correct when he say that only 2% of the people are being represented. When the union is breathing down your neck watching everything you do, every vote you make and if you dare vote against them, or even think about voting any way but a way that will hurt them, all your campaign dollars will dry up, all the troops will help someone else including a candidate that will run against you. Ask Iannelo, Kennedy and the rest of them that are endorsed by the unions. Watch how they vote, educate yourself as to how much power and control the unions have on them.

Satish, what your doing will not have the desired result. As long as you continue on you agenda that you ran on, it won’t work. The People in Amherst and all of New York have got to get together and VOTE, that is the only way things will change.

PARTY POLITICS IN TOWN GOVERNANCE

All democracies in the world have organized their people into various philosophic divisions and have named them political parties. All of these parties built their platforms for public good. Democrats aligned with labor unions that were being exploited by their employers, and the Republicans got closer to business groups to support the growth of economy and to sustain and expand employment; I joined the Republican Party for this reason and their belief in less taxes and smaller government.

illegal-residents-arrested.jpg

HELLO, HELLO….. Anyone home? This is making me crazy, are we going to be a complete sanctuary state? Arizona and Oklahoma passed Laws in their states and illegals are leaving there in droves. It is the RIGHT thing to do. Are they all flocking to New York now? Most likely, come and suck off our system, Albany will cater to your every need, welfare, food stamps, healthcare and don’t forget to bring your whole family with you, we will pay for them too.

The Suffolk bill would take licenses from contractors who hired undocumented workers. “If that bill passes, it’s going to be bad for the economy,” especially small-business owners that rely on the labor,

William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008)
Before there was Limbaugh, Hannity, etal, there was Bill Buckley the father of modern day Conservatism. God Bless and Rest in Peace my friend. Died at home, at work, committed till the end.

William F. Buckley Jr. (1925-2008) [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

I’m devastated to report that our dear friend, mentor, leader, and founder William F. Buckley Jr., died overnight in his study in Stamford, Connecticut.

After year of illness, he died while at work; if he had been given a choice on how to depart this world, I suspect that would have been exactly it. At home, still devoted to the war of ideas.

777-flyby.jpg

Wow! A 322 MPH fly-by, that is one huge aircraft. 28 feet off the ground. YeHaw, I would enjoy watching it but wouldn’t want to be on the flight. I grabbed the You Tube clip of it and you can see it after the page break.

Jumbo jet pilot sacked for ‘fly-by’ at 28 feet (B 777-300 ER)

A British pilot has been dismissed for “buzzing” a control tower in a Top Gun-style stunt during the maiden flight of a Boeing jumbo jet.

Captain Ian Wilkinson astonished passengers by taking the 230-tonne Cathay Pacific jet to within 28ft (8.5m) of the ground shortly after take-off from Boeing’s US manufacturing plant.

The 322mph fly-by was cheered by onlookers, and the pilot, who is said to be one of the most senior aviators with the airline, later toasted the flight with champagne.

Silver: Major issues need to be considered with property tax cap

Tuesday, February 26th, 2008

bloated-albany-budgets.jpg

This is just another major symptom of Albany’s sickness, maybe it’s ADD or ADHD what ever they call those disorders. I think that Silver needs medication. If you read the article all he talks about is rising costs, never does he ever discuss cutting costs, never.

And Suozzi adds the fact that the demand by schools and their interest groups for more spending. There again demand more spending, never about cutting costs. The system is not just broken, it is a complete failure.

Silver has much to much power and control in Albany. But he is King, the Dictator that controls the Assembly. It doesn’t matter what is wrong, in his opinion higher taxes and more spending will fix it, isn’t that the backwards thinking that has buried us here in New York?

Silver: Major issues need to be considered with property tax cap

ALBANY, N.Y. – Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver said Monday that he has some serious concerns about the effort to cap local property taxes.

The Manhattan Democrat said local governments squeezed by a tax cap will still have rising expenses to meet. And, he says, if the state is to help localities pick up the slack, it shouldn’t come at the expense of the state’s own priorities, including education.

Picture battle between Clinton and Obama

Monday, February 25th, 2008

If Hillary Clinton wants to play the silly and desperate game of showing a picture of Obama wearing a traditional African tribal dress during his visit to Africa in 2006 then she is playing the wrong game.

Apparently Hillarys people have been spreading this picture of Obama.

Where was Legislator Iannello? Where was Senator Thompson? They say they are for the removal of the tolls but when push comes to shove where are they. This is the biggest step in the toll fight in Grand Island history.

State Sen. George Maziarz, R-62nd Disrtict; Newfane, and Assemblyman Sam Hoyt have scheduled a press conference at Grand Island Town Hall to discuss legislation they are proposing that would transfer control of the Niagara section of the Thruway from the New York State Thruway Authority to the State Department of Transportation.

TOWN OF TONAWANDA: Leaders clearing the smoke on NRG

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

huntley-power-plant.jpg

They have a lot of smoke to clear and please allow me to clear some for them. I agree with Schimminger, I have yet to hear any support come from Spitzer on the Huntley Plant. What I have heard is his plan to make plants like the clean coal burning Huntley is that Spitzer wants to force them to buy “Carbon Credits” That will cost the Huntley plant over 60 Million a year. There is more of a threat of them going out of business because of this.

Read the article below. Let’s get the truth out here and stop playing political posturing OK Ms. Iannello.

ALBANY, Oct. 23 New York Times. — New York is one of more than a dozen states, led by California, preparing to sue the Bush administration for holding up efforts to regulate emissions from cars and trucks, several people involved in the lawsuit said on Tuesday.

The move comes as New York and other Northeastern states are stepping up their push for tougher regulation of greenhouse gases as part of their continuing opposition to President Bush’s policies.

On Wednesday, Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s administration is to issue regulations requiring power plants to pay for their greenhouse gas emissions, part of a broader plan among 10 Northeastern states, known as the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative,

Tonawanda News – TOWN OF TONAWANDA: Leaders clearing the smoke on NRG

Much has been said and written about NRG’s proposed clean-coal plant, but a group of local leaders are trying to get the whole picture before the project falls by the wayside.

An ad-hoc committee organized jointly by the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District and the Town of Tonawanda Development Corp. met for the first time Friday to trade questions about the snags to the project and establish a network for getting those questions answered in a timely fashion.

WNED: Transfer of I-190 Could End Grand Island Tolls (2008-02-22)

BUFFALO (2008-02-22) Legislation has been introduced in the State Senate by Republican George Maziarz and in the Assembly by Democrat Sam Hoyt that, if approved, would transfer the I-190 from the Thruway Authority to the state Department of Transportation.

Maziarz says the move will let the DOT collect more federal-aid, which would pay for maintaining the Grand Island bridges and the 21-miles of the Niagara section of the Thruway.

Statement on NY Gov. Spitzer's radical abortion plan

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

eliot_spitzer.jpg

Spitzer’s bold move is the next step in the radical pro-abortion agenda: compel Catholic and other religious hospitals to perform abortions. Pro-abortion forces are emboldened by the rise of Obama, a pro-abortion fanatic and the most extreme abortion advocate ever to run for president.

Since most or all Catholic hospitals will close rather than be turned into killing centers for babies, Spitzer and his ilk will take them over. They will become state institutions or will be bought and run by Spitzer’s political allies in the NY State Democrat Party. Bloomberg, another anti-Christian pro-abortion fanatic, stands ready to aid Spitzer. It will be a tough fight. These people are powerful…..
