Well, if she runs on her record she will loose. I find this a little amazing that she can’t even represent her own district which is tiny compared to Raths Senate district. I get a little sickened reading her agenda for change like with transparency? Please. A hack, simply a political hack that is in it for the pay, health care and pension.
Well one thing is for sure, she would actually live in the senate district.

Legislator Michele Iannello: Bringing a Reform Agenda And A Firm Commitment to the 61st District Senate race
Kenmore County Legislator Michele Iannello was working for the Democratic nomination for the 61st District Senate seat BEFORE Mary Lou Rath announced that she wasn’t running for re-election. She comes into the race with both a reformer’s record and a reform agenda to her credit. Now she is pressing her campaign for her party’s nod asking for a clear process and touting her belief that the seat is winnable by a Democrat, especially a woman.
“In 2000, there were 13,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats in the 61st District,” she reports. “In 2008, there are only 7,000 more Republicans with 35,000 blanks or unaffiliated voters. This seat was held by a woman for many years and I believe that a woman has the best chance to win it now.”
Having already started to make the rounds, Iannello is raring to go, armed with a change agenda that
includes support for greater transparency, term limits, and the kind of mandate reform that would put more money into the pockets of WNYers.
“As a member of the Erie County Legislature I got together with other Legislators and developed a series of reform proposals that included holding meetings at night when working people can attend and holding meetings in all of our districts so that senior citizens could come without having to pay to park,” she points out. “I support putting all of our votes on the web and I plan to talk with my fellow state legislators in Albany to build support for term limits for legislators so that the same people are not staying in office year after year.”
Legislator Iannello wants to see changes made in the medicaid and other state programs that will allow costs to come down so that taxes can be kept low.
“We need to do something about state mandates that cause property taxes to stay high in the State of New York,” she insists. “We need to spend more money on public safety and homeland security, especially in the 61st District which is so close to the Canadian border. We need a state government that works FOR the average working family, rather than just increasing the taxes all of us have to pay.”
