Dan Fogelberg Dead at 56

Singer and songwriter Dan Fogelberg succumbed to prostate cancer Sunday at his home in Maine at the age of 56. Fogelberg was known for his own brand of soft rock, with hits such as “Same Old Lang Syne” and “Leader of the Band.”

“Dan left us this morning at 6:00 a.m. He fought a brave battle with cancer and died peacefully at home in Maine with his wife Jean at his side,” read a statement Anna Loynes of the Solters & Digney public relations agency.

“His strength, dignity and grace in the face of the daunting challenges of this disease were an inspiration to all who knew him,” it continued. He learned that he had advanced prostate cancer in 2004.
