They are a joke… and please Whyte as Chair? She has shown no leadership at all IMHO… Her excuses to continue on the same old ways are getting very tiring
It is unclear yet whether or not the matter will be resolved before year’s end. Legislature Chairwoman Lynn Marinelli said she would try to arrange a special session if it is needed.

An extension of Erie County’s extra penny of sales tax was squeezed in during the last legislative session of the year Thursday. There was no controversy, with only two lawmakers opposing the first procedural vote to extend the tax.
Even Republican Barry Weinstein, who is leaving to take a seat on the Amherst Town board, said o.k. to extending the extra penny for another year.
And lawmakers already hashed out a sharing agreement earlier this year that extended another three quarters of a cent hike for two years. That was enacted after the 2004 budget crisis.
So, what is this year’s financial crisis? The continued stand-off over capital borrowing.
The comptroller earlier this week said the Erie County Fiscal Stability Authority and the county are close to a deal. But Control Board Executive Director Ken Vetter said that it depends on your definition of close. But he confirmed the talks are progressing and positive.
The state is helping to end the stale mate. The problem is finding a way to let the control board take out the $52 million dollar bond, while making sure they don’t necessarily have to stick around to manage the 30 year debt. Vetter said that saving taxpayer money is the goal, not ensuring longevity.
It is unclear yet whether or not the matter will be resolved before year’s end. Legislature Chairwoman Lynn Marinelli said she would try to arrange a special session if it is needed.
It could be one of her last duties as chair.
Lawmakers will elect a chair at the first session of the new year. But Marinelli is not the only contender. Majority Leader Maria Whyte also has backing. Marinelli declined to comment on her own support.
The position will be decided by the Democrats, who will continue to hold a super majority in the new year.
