Does anyone know there is a document as the state constitution? Art IV defines the powers and duties of the governor. There is no such thing as an executive order. The most definitive statement is, “He shall expedite all such measures as may be resolved upon by the legislature, and shall take care that the laws are faithfully executed.”
This voted in place by the people in 1938,1953, and 1963.
There is also no provision for negotiating compacts with sovereign entities, such as native Americans.
The state constitution defines rightful government.
If we do not know our rights, we do not have any.

Driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants

Driving is a privilege, not a right. A phrase you no doubt heard when you were getting your driver’s license. Governor Spitzer wants to change state policy — giving that privilege to illegal immigrants. It’s the focus of a full page ad in the Buffalo News — an ad paid for by Erie County Clerk Candidate Bill O’Loughlin. “If the Governor orders me to do it I won’t do it.”

O’Loughlin takes aim at incumbent Kathy Hochul - saying her appointment by Spitzer makes her beholden to the Governor. “She’s a politician,” said O’Loughlin. “She’s not willing to go against the man who gave her the job.” Hochul says she’s not surprised by the ad. “I thought it’s politics as usual. Dirty politics as usual.”

Hochul insists she is against the Governor’s plan, calling it a misguided decision. But she says she’s not going to break the law by outright defying his order. “I will fight this through legal means just as I took on the Thruway tolls. I didn’t tell people to violate the law and drive through the tolls and not pay their money.”

O’Loughlin is taking a defiant stand. “If I have to go I’ll go to jail. If the Governor orders me to issue a drivers license to an illegal alien I will go to jail because I will not do it.”

Under the Governor’s new rules, driver’s license applicants will no longer have to provide a social security card. Starting next April, the DMV will accept passports and birth certificates as proof of identification. more–>
