WBEN 930 : Developer Joins Call To Rid Grand Island Tolls

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - He was a key player in the fight to remove the 190 tolls in Buffalo. Now Carl Paladino says it’s time to get rid of the Grand Island Bridge tolls.

Paladino, a developer, calls the tolls another tax “that makes us unattractive” and is calling for a revolution to remove the tolls. Paladino says the tolls are a matter of equity.

He says the Thruway Authority is making a profit off the Grand Island tolls, with $22 million in revenues annually with $8 million in expenses. Paladino blames Albany, in particular, members of the Western New York delegation who he believes are controlled by downstate lawmakers.
