Also, anything starting with “Doctors have concluded” is just a made up statistic. Something more credible would be “A recent study at the Institute of Neurology suggests…”

The problem with the image i found was i was expecting it to be in scale so the mans head would be a lot larger than the beans. Obviously that wasnt the case and i think thats why people take a while to find it.

The time it takes you to find the man is based on chance, plus your personal pattern of thinking. I didn’t know what to expect until I read the comments, so as a result, I didn’t find the man for a long, long while. If a person is expecting an arrangement of coffee beans that looks vaguely like a face, they’re not going to find him. Overall, if they’re expecting the coffee beans to be “normal-sized,” then their chances of finding the man are rather slim.
So, it has nothing to do with being right or left-brained. It’s just a matter of the first thing you’re thinking when you see the picture.

this is stupid. 1: if you are going to say something to make you appear smart, instead of saying “doctors” actually specify what kind. 2: because we are use to seeing optical illusions, where the stuff in the picture resembles a person or thing, when we look at the pic we first off start looking for a shape of the mans head in the beans… not a bean being a mans head. next time you creat a title, make sure its not missleading. and 3: OF COURSE ITS PHOTOSHOP’D.. what, do you really expect them to some how magically find a coffee bean that was ACTUALLY shaped like a human head… oh ya, and for those of you trying to say you found it in a couple of seconds.. your either full of shit, or got lucky. the humans mind will instictively start looking for the beans to make out the shape.. because that is what your use to seeing on the net in pics like this.

There isn’t really any picture there other than the coffee beans. Humans naturally see faces in objects they can’t identify. It’s a psychological interpretation. Has nothing to do with right or left brain thinking. I’m a graphic designer and specialize in making images that are devious. It’s the same idiocy as there being a face on the moon. It’s a simple trick with lighting/shading. This comes from the same imbiciles that think Mary mother of God appeared on a grilled cheese sandwich. Get your heads out of the sand, because the world makes more sense when your eyes are not filled with sand.

for those who can’t find the face: start in the lower left corner and count over 5 beans. This picture has more to do with a psychological phenomenon than neurology. Karanime touched on this fact: what we expect to see is what we will see, or what we won’t see. So for the people who expected to see a “face” in the coffee beans, i.e., the beans arranged to look like a face, won’t find it. Those who are looking for a face (would head be a better word?) in the beans, the same size as the beans, will find it much easier. This is a pretty ubiquitous happening in our everyday lives. How many times have we overlooked something obvious, like our “lost” car keys sitting in plain sight, because we expected them to be somewhere else? Or to say it in the negative, we did not expect to see them in that very location, and didn’t “see” them even though we looked right at them. This is a very basic example, we do this on much deeper levels, but hopefully it is easy to relate to.
It took me about 1-2 seconds… For me they key was my strange behavior that I start everything from the back end. So if the man is down there on the left side, then it doesn’t take so much time when you start from the back end…

i love all these people that say they found it in 1-2 seconds… this is a where’s waldo thing… only way you find it in 1-2 sec is if you know exactly where it is. now, for the people that say they found it in 10-20 sec.. thats more believeable… anyone can say they found it in 2 sec.. i found it right off.. i can say that and go with it.. and no one can prove me other wise (to be honest i didnt, because my mind INSTICTIVELY looks for the beans to make a face) just like i said last time.. the mind instictively will look for the beans to make out a face. not a face bean.. at quickest.. you will stop looking for the beans to make a face after MAYBE 5 sec. but you will first be looking for a face made out of beans. not one bean that looks like a face… now… for the people who just magically luckily got it as soon as they started looking, you didnt really find the face, you stumbled across it… and NO, it does not stick out plain as day until AFTER you find it.
