Surprised? Yes and No…
Yes because, they have not done anything to really curb spending and cannot help them selves when it comes to creating more jobs for their cronies and campaign workers, after all they have to have county workers doing campaign work and donating to their campaigns to keep a step ahead of us. And they have done nothing to reform county government. So much for the “reform platform” they hijacked two years ago.

No because, they raised the real property tax by some say as high as 8 million, kept the “temporary” sales tax not just for one year but voted to keep it for two and they are reaping from the benefits of the revaluation of your homes thus a back door way to raise taxes.

County Ends 2006 In The Black

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) – An independent audit by Deloitte and Touche on the county’s 2006 finances has been released, and Erie County ended 2006 with a $23.8 million surplus.

Erie County Comptroller Mark Poloncarz says the results “reflect fiscal discipline and more careful budgeting and spending than in prior years.” He warns the county fund balance must build a larger fund balance to attain credit rating upgrades. The fund balance stands at $38.2 million.

Poloncarz says the potential sale of the county’s tax liens would give the county an immediate cash infusion and boost the county’s general fund balance in an effort toward meeting the four year goal.
