What an outrage! And of course the lobbyist hired used to work for Silver. Does he have a lobbyist training school going on at taxpayer expense that we don’t know about?
They never look at the overall financial effects this crap will have on commuters and businesses. But I guess when you have more money than god, you don’t see it. $40 bucks more a week for us is alot of money, it’s bad enough that gas is over $3 bucks a gallon, then on top of that, tolls, commuter costs, government and school budgets growing at twice the rate of inflation. The people are getting slammed from all directions and we have no representation or advocacy groups to bring it to these thick skulled politicians.
Environmentalists are forcing more and more on us that costs us more and more to do what? Force us to change to their way of life. This sucks.
Face it, they do not care. Below is another interesting article I found.
Poll Suggests Manhattan Driving Is Mostly Optional
Lobbyist Hired to Push Congestion Plan
NEW YORK, NY May 03, 2007 —Proponents of congestion pricing now have a powerful lobbyist on their side. Environmental Defense has retained Pat Lynch, who once worked for Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
REPORTER: The fate of Mayor Bloomberg’s proposal to charge drivers who come into Manhattan south of 86th Street is up to Silver, the governor and the Republican Senate majority leader. Andy Darrell is regional director for Environmental Defense. He says the mayor’s proposal is complex.
DARRELL: So I think there’s work to be done to educate decision makers about the many ways in which the plan brings clean air benefits, transit benefits and a wide range of environmental benefits to all 5 boroughs.
REPORTER: Assemblyman Richard Brodsky has already complained that an $8 fee isn’t fair to the working class. Bloomberg is expected to travel to Albany later this month to lobby for his proposal.
