I am so glad to see that Mike Long has followed through with this farce called Embryonic Stem Cell research. Over 20 they have been trying to find some kind of success using this process and for over 20 years there has been nothing but failures, tumors and ultimate death.
You want success with stem cells just look at the successes they have had using adult stem cells, that’s right, using umbylical cord, placentia, even your own fat tissue out of your own body.. To continue to follow the destructive path is promising false hope in millions of Americans and to force the TaxPayers to continue funding is throwing money down the drain. But, that’s what politicians do anyway.
This is just one paragraph of the testimony given today, very compelling. I urge you all to read this and then contact your representatives and tell them NO!
The language in the bill is an affront to those of us who believe in medical research to find cures for many of the diseases and genetic shortcomings that stem cell research has provided hope to. The very notion that the proposed Stem Cell and Innovation Fund Corporation is in the economic development portion of the budget, rather than the health and mental health budget submission is a problem. We strongly believe that ethical stem cell research should only be considered as a way to have healthier citizens - not as a means to bring jobs to New York. The very idea that this is in the economic development portion of the budget suggests to us that ethical research is not the priority, in fact we believe that the emphasis has been wrongly placed on luring jobs, not curing people.
CONSERVATIVES TESTIFY ON STEM CELL RESEARCH
Public Corporation Can Provide Hope…If Restructured
Ft. Hamilton Station, NY – State Chairman, Michael R. Long announced that the Conservative Party testified at today’s Public Hearing on the Executive Budget Proposals on Economic Development.
Members of the Legislature were urged to change the structure of the proposed Stem Cell and Innovated Fund Corporation and to reject any proposals for stem cell research that included experimentation and research on progenitor and pluripotent calls that are harvested from embryos.
In January, Chairman Long called on Members of the Legislature to use extreme caution when considering stem cell research. Now that the executive budget has proposed the bill language defining the future of stem cell research in New York State, the Conservative Party urged Members to change the structure of the proposed corporation and to limit the research to what has been positive and proven.
The Conservative Party of New York State believes that there is a bright future in the medical field of ethical stem cell research. We believe that government will play a role and more importantly should play a role in making it possible to cure or prevent many of the painful, heart wrenching health problems faced by ordinary people. We believe that medical miracles have occurred and will continue — as long as we respect what we all began as – the human embryo.

Securing research grants has become a very profitable business for many at the expense of taxpayers.
We have to teach them Mike, this issue will be on the ballot this November
