Grand Island Tolls ~ We have their attention Thruway Authority

I have been doing some digging around since receiving the letter from the Thruway Authority concerning the tolls at the Grand Island Bridges. I found this old article in my other website and low and behold the same excuse was given back then when Giambra and Carl Paladino threatened to sue to get rid of the tolls in Buffalo. The same name appears in this article as the one that signed our letter.

Seems we have gotten their attention as the Thruway Authority is all over this website and the noGItolls site. Yesterday alone they were here on 50 seperate occasions. Their visits all occured after I made the call to their office. In the noGItolls petition site there is currently 3467 signatures and I also have over 2000 paper signatures so we are well on our way. I will be on WBEN at 7:50 AM with John and Susan, after the media picks up on it we always get a ton more signatures.

If they think this letter is going to slow us down they are sadly mistaken. This has just infuriated the people that received it and furthers our resolve to keep on fighting on.. Have you signed the petition? Do it now…

Giambra, Paladino, Sue Thruway Authority Over Toll

Giambra, Paladino, Sue Thruway Authority Over Toll

Erie County Executive Joel Giambra says it’s unfair Western New Yorkers have been paying tolls on the I-190 since the 1950s while other commuters using the 390, 490, and 590 don’t have to pay tolls

Thruway Authority Spokesperson Betsy Graham tells Newsradio 930 WBEN the 190 is under the jurisdiction of the Authority while other routes are not. She says if tolls weren’t collected, roads and bridges on the 190 would not be maintained. Graham says a transportation hearing will be held Thursday and testimony on the tolls is expected.
Here is the Law—-Niagara Toll Removal Act
Typical response from them, with out your money we are out of a job. Our toll money pay for the roads down state in the Hudson valley area too. Why don’t they pay tolls?  Political influence… New York State authorities borrow and spend Billions everyyear to fix roads, don’t give me that excuse.

Everytime I drive through a toll booth I feel like I am either feeding the homeless or just giving them more money toward their pensions.
