**NOTICE: WARNING**
Fellow Polo Enthusiast,
As many of you know, my name is Greg Ball, and I am the founder and Chairman of the Courage Cup.
We (Tareq Salahi, Charles Muldoon, Greg Ball, the other members of the Courage Cup board) will once again be hosting the Courage Cup in 2007. I want you to know that a separate group is suggesting that they are hosting ?Courage Cup? and I ask you to please take note that they are doing so without our authorization. Please refrain from entangling alliances with them.
As you probably know, I formed, created and led this event from concept, to actualization and beyond. Everything about Courage Cup; the logo, the name, the mission, the charity, the event itself, the concept, the idea, the website name and format, the initial and current marketing, strategy and rollout of Courage Cup is entirely and inherently a byproduct of my leadership, my creativity, my hard work, and my tenacity. As an amateur polo player, I came to know the Work to Ride program in Philadelphia, and made that charity the benefactor of the Courage Cup in D.C.. I founded Courage Cup in 2004 as a worthy event to raise funds for these inner city kids and the Work to Ride program. With the help of my board, ?the Cup? grew into a successful event.
In 2006, I appointed an individual as Event Chairwoman to oversee and manage the event as my direct representative and steward. Being in the middle of a political campaign, I appointed this individual as my trusted representative and gave her full authority to do whatever it took to make the event a great success while simultaneously safeguarding my interests. Unfortunately this individual soon after the 2006 Courage Cup, evidently took immediate steps to hijack my event, my name and my intellectual property and created a new board without my approval, input, direction or, in most cases, knowledge. I am just now becoming aware of these actions.
The actual and current board of Courage Cup, which still exists under my leadership, is looking to work with this outlier group for an immediate resolution. For polo fields, society magazines, members of the media, polo players and other affected parties, I ask for your immediate attention and diligence on this matter. Please report back if you are contacted by any organization purporting to be ?Courage Cup?. In the meantime, I ask you to take precautions to safeguard my identity and my intellectual property while readying for the actual event (Courage Cup 2007). We look forward to another great event!
For spectators and other parties, if anyone contacts you regarding ?Courage Cup?, please verify who you are speaking with, take down their complete information and contact me directly and immediately.
Very Respectfully;
Gregory Robert Ball

The Courage Cup Seeks to Correct Erroneous Information Disseminated by Greg Ball
The Courage Cup, a Virginia corporation is releasing the following statement to correct the false statements circulated by Mr. Greg Ball on January 24, 2007, and to assure The Courage Cup attendees and sponsors that the 2007 Courage Cup is alive and well and set for June 16, 2007 at Sheila C. Johnson Field at Great Meadow Polo Club in The Plains, Virginia.
Mr. Ball organized the original event referred to as the Courage Cup, a charity polo match to raise money for Work to Ride, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit community-based prevention program that aids disadvantaged urban youth though constructive activities centered on horsemanship, equine sports and education. However, in 2005, Mr. Ball decided to pursue his political aspirations in New York state, and transferred all event management and complete responsibility for the event to Keri Ann Meslar, who with Andrea Rodgers and Jennifer Doherty formed the current 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with a new Board of Directors to oversee and plan the 2006 event in a professional, legal and financially sound manner. Key objectives of the new board were:
• To pay off the debts owned to local business who had been left with unpaid invoices from the previous Courage Cup event
• To ensure that all the charitable proceeds go to the claimed beneficiary - Work to Ride.
• To ensure that the organization was legally established consistent with local ordinances, covered by proper insurance and a responsible entity to its stakeholders, submitting appropriate filings with the IRS
The Courage Cup board did not invite Mr. Ball to be on the board due to differences in opinion and practices regarding the management and responsibility of the organization. Mr. Ball has never been on the legally founded board of The Courage Cup.
With the creation of the non-profit corporation and under the leadership of The Courage Cup board, the 2006 Courage Cup was a huge success:
• The 2006 Courage Cup in partnership, with Great Meadow, home of the Gold Cup, and Capitol File magazine, The Courage Cup event more than doubled the attendance of any previous Courage Cup, received the most coverage of any polo party in the region including The Washington Post and other social magazines in the DC area.
• The 2006 Courage Cup raised 8 times as much money for the inner city kids at Work to Ride than in the previous years; and the US Polo Association honored the event by using the Courage Cup event to present its prestigious national image of polo trophy and award to Lezlie Hiner and the Work to Ride Program; and for the first time The Courage Cup received national level coverage.
• In 2006, unlike previous years The Courage Cup ended the event in the black; all vendors and bills were paid; responsible and auditable books were kept.
• Following the 2006 Courage Cup, all the major sponsors and partners were not only highly complimentary of the new professionalism and management of the event, but also expressed a desire to have the event in the same time frame (mid-June) and at the same location (Great Meadow Club).
The Courage Cup continues to support Work to Ride and is again teaming up with Great Meadow Polo Club to host the 2007 Courage Cup on Saturday, June 16, 2007 where the kids of Work to Ride will play side by side some of the world’s most famous polo players. Lezlie Hiner, Founder and President of Work to Ride sits on the board of The Courage Cup, and she affirms her commitment to The Courage Cup by stating that the kids of Work to Ride will participate in The Courage Cup at Great Meadow Polo Club. Work to Ride fully supports Andrea Rodgers as President of The Courage Cup, and will not participate in any event led by Mr. Ball.
The Courage Cup board credits Mr. Ball for founding the event and it recognizes his initial stewardship. The Courage Cup regrets that Mr. Ball is putting his personal interests before the event’s benefactors by issuing his recent statement. Recently, Mr. Ball expressed an interest in joining the Board of The Courage Cup and getting re-involved in the event. Thus, Mr. Ball’s sudden smear campaign has come as a particular shock to The Courage Cup’s Board of Directors who are dedicated to make the 2007 Courage Cup an even greater success.

Mr. Ball seems to be a loose cannon. I think the vets of NY would be offended if they knew that his “service” to the military was a cushy office job in DC which he left high and dry to see his name in the papers and run for office in NY while they are suffering from their time spent fighting for this country. Does a “polo man” really relate to these vets? Is he really a “working class” guy that he claims to be? We are just his first stop on his fight for power. I predict he will be gone by the end of his term. He is not committed to this district.
Curious. Has anyone really looked into his background in DC? After making a few calls to the District, I have heard about a few indiscretions. Seems that Stephens isn’t the only one he has stalked. A responsible media may have brought this to light sooner.
JERK ALERT WARNING!
FAKE (an appropraiate name) and DAVID (whose name should FAKE) have been detected as CLASS A JERKS of the democratic party and tools of Satan’s man on the scence, Silver.
Fake, you wouldn’t know a working class person if you looked out your window to see who it was who was cutting your grass.
David, Who did you call in DC? How about some facts. You sound like a Stephens apologist. How about his indiscretions in Albany? Maybe you were the pivot point in some of those indiscretions.
Ball is a loose cannon and that is what you JERKS are afraid of. What’s the matter? Afraid he is going to shake up the status quo and exspose how the filthy entrenched politicians are screwing everyone? Maybe you guys are one of the dirtbags running Albany. Sure sounds like it to me.
By the way, tell “Shelly” were coming for him.
He is a Politician and told the people what they wanted to hear. Actions speak louder than words. We should have looked more closely at his actions in DC and Virginia. Clearly, he is using us as a stepping stone so that he can run for the U.S. House of Representatives in the future.
He founded, created, built, promoted, managed and led Courage Cup. The letter published by Rodgers is salacious and textbook slander and libel. Indeed, you will notice it has been pulled from the www.couragecup.org site as of today. Meslar and Rodgers plotted and stole the logo, the name, the idea, and the very event from Greg to advance their social agenda. Greg came back after a hard fought election to find the organization he thought he had left in good hands (his former girlfriend) was being hijacked. Indeed, you will notice that www.couragecup.com is still Greg’s proper domain. Greg refused to be bullied and as I understand it, he is still extremely well respected by Work to Ride, the polo community, and all of the members of even the new Courage Cup board - save one, an egotistical social climber who wouldn’t know the front end of a polo poly from the back end, and could care less about the charity. Meslar and Rodgers are social butterflies and decided to use greg’s good name, and the event he built from the ground up, to advance their social agenda while simulataneously settling a personal score against greg. As they say, nothing is more furious than a woman scorned.
As for Albany and Congress, there seems there is but one lesson to take from this about Ball. When Greg sets his mind to something he accomplishes it, and he doesn’t back down.
OK, This thread is done. I am locking it from further comments.
If you all want to have an arguement about this briing it else where.
Thanks
