I would like to know how many are on Bonacis’s side in this.

Albany — State Sen. John Bonacic has ratcheted up his call for fellow Republican Joe Bruno to step aside as Senate majority leader, sending a letter to all of his Senate colleagues this week.

Bonaci, R-C-Mount Hope, included a raft of news stories about an investigation into Bruno’s private business activities.

“We all should be familiar with each of these 150 articles, as well as the associated TV news video coverage on dozens of television stations,” Bonacic wrote. “If the leader remains the leader, we will all be seeing them in the 2008 election cycle.”

One Bruno loyalist, Sen. William Larkin Jr., R-C-Cornwall-on-Hudson, denounced Bonacic’s letter and the attached articles as “11 pages of garbage.”

But their Republican colleague in the Assembly, Tom Kirwan, R-C-Newburgh, praised Bonacic for his actions.

“It’s nice to see somebody put principle over politics,” Kirwan said.
