This comes as no suprise to me. Spitzer has been absent when it comes to any specifics to his plans for New York. Such a pity that we will be left in the dirt when it comes to our neck of the woods. We need change and Spitzer is not change, he represents all that is wrong about New York.

SPITZER ABANDONS UPSTATE ECONOMY
ALBANY, NY — (09/16/2006; 1530)(EIS) Republican and Conservative candidate for governor John Faso today accused his opponent of abandoning the reforms needed to revamp the upstate economy. Democrat Eliot Spitzer came out against a plan sponsored by many upstate business leaders, including several area chambers of commerce and the Business Council of New York State, that would reduce the cost of government upstate and help provide tax relief to families and businesses.
“Throughout this campaign, Mr. Spitzer has tried to be all things to all people and we all know that is impossible,” said Faso. ” Now, when he is backed into a corner and forced to explain his position on specific proposals, the real Eliot Spitzer is exposed. He has abandoned the exact reforms we need to turn the upstate economy around. There is no question that he is going to raise taxes and reject cost-saving reforms that are opposed by Albany special interests.”
The reforms sponsored by the business community include provisions for more flexibility on public contracts, setting Medicaid eligibility rules and other provisions in the Unshackle Upstate agenda. John Faso has pledged to support that agenda and has announced many tax cuts and regulatory reforms of his own, including a Medicaid reform plan that will save New York taxpayers $13 billion.
