I went to the debate tonight and to be honest, I wish these two were the leading candidates. At least in November we would have a decent choice for governor.
Once again Spitzer blew off Western New York, once again he showed us he is above the rest of us, he sickens me. He is just one of the many problems we have in this state.
Like Tom said.. The state is a 113 Billion dollar corporation and Spitzer is the attorney. He has gone after Wall Street, the music industry but has done nothing positive to effect the bottom line of the state. Wall St and the Music industry didn’t raise your taxes, Albany did.
Suozzi is by far the best candidate I have seen in years, he is forth right, honest about what ailes this state, he is not afraid to say it as he sees it. If I were a Democrat he would get my vote, so instead he will get the vote of all my Democrat friends and supporters, and I do have alot of them.
If he can’t win the state, he can at least win Western New York. That alone will send a strong message to down state that we are sick and dam tired of everything that you do to benefit the power brokers, and everything you don’t do to help us here in Western New York.
Suozzi, Faso warn of growing upstate-downstate rift
ALBANY, N.Y. — Democrat Tom Suozzi and Republican John Faso warned upstate voters Tuesday night that they are on the losing side of the upstate-downstate divide, and losing ground.
Faso and Suozzi said powerful politicians from New York City and Albany are insulated from the pain of most New Yorkers because of the benefits of Wall Street and Broadway in Manhattan and, in Albany, state government’s rampant spending and its spinoff commerce.
The arguments were aimed in part at front-running Democrat Eliot Spitzer of Manhattan, who has served two terms in Albany with the current power structure. Faso and Suozzi noted that, again, Spitzer declined the face-to-face confrontation a week before the Sept. 12 Democratic primary.
“People downstate don’t understand what’s going on” upstate, said Suozzi, a native Long Islander and current Nassau County executive. “They think the reason the economy is bad in Buffalo is because it’s cold outside … so the power base of the politicians in New York City doesn’t realize there is a problem.”
“Why are these state legislators so out of touch?” he asked. He took aim at the powerful and self-protected majorities of both chambers of the Legislature.
“There is no accountability among the Assembly Democrats or the Senate Republicans,” Suozzi said. “There have been more legislators indicted in the past three years than have lost their jobs at the polls.”
The most important vote you could ever cast in this coming Primary will be the one for governor. We don’t have to be stuck with Spitzer, he is the candidate the Democrat machine, the unions, the trial lawyers, the power brokers and lobbyists have forced upon the Democrat voters of this state.
Tom Suozzi has something to say and that is why they locked him out of the convention here this summer.
You can make a difference, if your not a Democrat, call your friends that are and ask them to vote for Suozzi this coming Tuesday. If you are a Democrat Please get to the polls and talk to everyone you know and ask them to do the same. We can make the difference, we can start on the road to real change and reform in this state.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackYES!!! Cure the problem of overrepresentation in state government by downstate interests by voting for a downstate politician who has never served the upstate people. At least Spitzer was the AG for the entire state and has contact with many upstate politicians.
O Brother! Spitzer hasn’t even gone after one stitch of waste and abuse in government!
Answer me this Adam….
What has Spitzer done for Western New York?
His contact (Suozzi) with upstate politicos has at least had some effect on policy. Suozzi, Giambra and other county executives at least put pressure on Albany to cap Medicaid, although no where near enough, this policy saved county covernment millions.
Spitzers contacts are??? Who Hoyt, Tokasz and every other Democrat that is supporting him with the promise of a state job if Spitzer is elected? Democrats that I know that are elected are being pressured to support Spitzer with threats… That proves to me that he is a prosecutor and a power hungry bully that cares more about power and control than taking care of reforming this state.
Suozzi has been very available, he has been to open forums and debates answering the questions from the people. He is not afraid to give his opinion and point of view. He has signed on to the unshackle Upstate platform which will empower us.
Where is Spitzer? He is no where to be found and we have no idea where he stands on issues that effect us. Where has he been in the open forums and debates? No where to be found.
Faso and Suozzi offer so much more than Spitzer has in his brain.
Of course Suozzi is available, he has no chance of winning and is desperate!
I think Spitzer having contacts with the delegation that represents WNY is better that Suozzi having contacts with Giambra who is on his way out. Hoyt has 14 years in the assembly and with a close relationship with the new govenor, will be able to accomplish many good things for the residents of the 144th district. how is having a close relationship with the new govener a bad thing?
If you are elected who will have a close political relationship with you? you have insulted everyone in a position of power. what do you hope to accomplish for the constituents of the 144th after you have isolated yourself from the power structure in albany?
and to answer your question on what Spitzer has done for WNY, he prosecuted the Rigas’ who were STEALING from Adelphia and saved the company from certain bankruptcy. I’m guessing that saved a few hundred jobs in the City of Buffalo alone…
I personally don’t care if I have insulted the people in power in Albany, they are the problem, they are the ones that continue to bury western new york with legislation that to hurt us.
Hoyt and 14 years in Albany equeals the economic collapse of Buffalo and the 144th district. That’s what happens when you align yourself with the power brokers in Albany.
To care more about the power brokers and to care less about the very people in your district.
Spitzer had nothing to do with the prosecution of Adelphia and Rigas
This is and was a Federal crime and Federal case.
Show me where in the case you can find the name of your beloved Spitzer.

Good afternoon. I am joined today by Deputy Attorney General Jim Comey, who also serves as Chairman of the President’s Corporate Fraud Task Force; by David Kelley, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York; by Linda Thomsen Deputy Director of Enforcement for the Securities and Exchange Commission; and by Lee Heath, the Chief Postal Inspector from the U.S. Postal Service. We are here today to announce an unprecedented act of justice and restitution for the men and women, families and stockholders who lost billions of dollars as the result of the accounting fraud schemes and looting of Adelphia Communications Corporation.
As many of you know, on July 8, 2004, Adelphia’s founder, Chairman and CEO, John J. Rigas, and his son, CFO Timothy J. Rigas, were convicted on conspiracy, securities fraud and bank fraud charges.
Go ahead read the rest.. You will not find his name anwhere.
Wow. Adam, you just got served. Next time you open your mouth you should do a little research.
Remember, the power structure and the way things have been run in New York State is the reason I left for Baltimore, why my two brothers left for Chicago and Philadelphia, why three of my cousins left for Phily, Boston, and North Carolina, and why all my college educated friends left as well: No Jobs, High Taxes, and no positive changes in the future. Spitzer, AKA Mr. Status Quo, will continue this trend.
Der Spitzer is part of the reason for the foul stench eminating from Albany. If elected Governor the smell will only increase in odor.
Well David hopefully some day we can greet you back in NY.
It is so sad that so many have left and hacks like this continue to fight to keep things just the way they are.
I just wish people would take their blinders off and realize that Albany and everyone in it has to be replaced. The power structure has got to be reworked. We cannot allow the 3 men and the power brokers to continue to run NY into the ground.
Of course Spitzer says screw you to WNY and still refuses to be accountable to the people. I have a plan… I’d like to hear it.
Do you think many Democrats are going to take seriously the endorsement of a Republican candidate for State Assembly in the Democrat Primary for Governor?!?
Would you care who Sam Hoyt endorses for Senate?
Oh Jack, you have no idea how much support I have in the Democrat community. Hoyt will soon find out.
I know who Hoyt is endorsing in the senate race, his personal puppet Marc Coppola. Last time I checked Hoyt had donated over $5000 to his campaign. I on the other hand am working against Marc.
We need someone that is not a puppet and Marc and Antionne are both just that. B.Brown is pulling the strings on Antionne.
I just was informed that Marc Capolla is using an ad agency out of Rochester. Didn’t Byron Brown get beat up for this. Hoyt has much of his political stuff done downstate. What’s wrong aren’t locals good enough?
I meant Volker vs. Roberto…
or Spencer vs. McFarland…
If Roberto was in my district, I would vote for him.
I will be voting for Spencer.
But if Sam Hoyt, or any Democrat for that matter, had endorsed Spencer in the REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, would you take that endorsement seriously?
It would depend on the Democrat.
I don’t look at the Party as much as you think. I look at what they have done, how they have worked for the people vs the party interests. Are they in bed with the power brokers or the people…
I like Golombek, DeBennedetti at times he can be a good ally, I trusted and liked Swanick for the longest time, till he turned his back on the people. Then I challenged him and he retired.
Schimminger is not a bad guy, but do I teust him? No, and I told him so. He called me a legend. I said ya, in my own mind?
I have campaigned for and helped more Democrats than you would ever know. It’s what’s inside that I see and is more important to me.
Most every friend I have in the city of Buffalo is a Democrat, and they agree with my opinions of government and the need for reforms and the dismantling of alot of it.
