Each claims to be a reformer
Spitzer, the unanimous choice of party leaders, says he’ll take on state government with the same zeal and fearlessness he displayed in prosecuting investment fraud.
But Suozzi, who forced the primary by collecting thousands of signatures from registered Democrats around the state, says he’s the only one with executive experience, turning what Syracuse University’s Maxwell School called the nation’s worst-run county into one of the best.
“He’s a prosecutor,” Suozzi said of Spitzer. “I’m a chief executive. He’s a reformer of Wall Street. I’m a reformer of government, and there’s a big, big difference because you have to fight the people you also look to for support.”
He says Spitzer’s support and campaign money from Albany lobbyists, trial lawyers, big unions and others will prevent him from solving the state’s problems.
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a decent choice for governor. If we had Suozzi and Faso then we would. I refuse to believe Spitzer will work to reform anything. How can he when he is supported by the very orginizations that need to be reformed.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackI agree completely with this assessment. tom suozzi has done an incredible job of turning around a county that made Erie county look functional. He has decision-making experience. even better, he has made good decisons.
spitzer on the other hand is an arrogant bully in my opinion. He knows that continued negative press is a death knell for investment banking firms. They would rather pay huge sums in hush money to settle rather have things drag on in the courts. most people don’t understand the issues and only remember that the xyz firm was charged. In almost every case where the defendant has gone to trial. Spitzer has lost. He doesn’t have an executive branch temperment. He is owned lock, stock, & barrel by the teachers union, the trail lawyers, Dennis Rivera’s heath care union - in sum everyone who is part of the problem. Of all of the public sector union giveaways last June, there was only one! that spitzer said he would veto. Yeah, with Spitzer Appalachia is going to look like the Graden of Eden compared to upstate NY.
