Thruway Toll Lawsuit In Court
Buffalo, NY (WBEN) - Whether you have to pay a toll on the Niagara Section of the Thruway could be decided by the end of Thursday.
State Supreme Court Justice Joseph Glownia hears the case Thursday morning, brought on behalf of Developer Carl Paladino and Erie County.
The state Thruway Authority contends that the tolls are needed for maintenance, and they are challenging Paladino’s right to bring the lawusit.
Attorney Michael Powers says a decision to allow his lawsuit against the tolls to proceed may be his opponent’s first domino to fall.
Hear why he’s so optimistic, and what is at stake, in an interview available on the audio link above.
I am very curious as to how this will come out in court today. These tolls and the tolls on the Grand Island bridges should have been gone years ago. They invented easy pass to make it easier to take your money and make it sound like your saving money. Either way we are paying a commuter tax all around Buffalo.
Have any of you noticed the back up in traffic from the Grand Island bridges daily? It starts around 4 PM and continues until 6. It has become a traffic hazard as now cars are sitting on the Youngman.
Something that is not being talked about is the coming construction and closing of the north bound bridge, yet they want to keep the tolls? I feel like I’m feeding the homeless everytime I drive through them. I don’t think there is a profit from these tolls to take care of the roads, it pays for salaries, pensions, healthcare and the retirement package for the toll workers. They all need to be removed from WNY and shifted down to the Hudson Valley area, let them pay for the roads for a change.
