Pay $100 so that you can ‘officially’ complain about how much you hate paying taxes (even though your organization is applying for tax exempt status) What a great country!! Free Buffalo is using laws passed by progressive politicians designed to assist churches and community organizations so they can rail against those same progressive politicians for taxing them too much. I smell a hint of irony.
Free Buffalo fights against the “progressive” machines that are ripping off the taxpayer. Even dumb asses who like getting ripped off stand to benefit, now that’s what I call irony.
I would personally like to show my gratitude to all the Democrat and Republican progressives and their stalward pions throughout history that fought to bring us the unconstitutional progressive income tax which allowed our government to bloat beyond comprehension and finance foreign adventurism and other means of wasting our wealth.
please explain to me how the progressive income tax is ‘unconstitutional.’ i would love to hear this legal argument.
Immoral may be a better word Adam, because mere words on a piece of paper have not stopped elected officials seeking power from disregarding the true meaning of Federal or State constitutions. Abiding by the spirit of the law doesn’t apply to governments, since clever, immoral men cannot live within limited powers given to them by constitutions. They will contrive other laws to expand their power and enrich themselves, to trick and oppress their constituents if the people are not vigilant to their true agenda.
Legal arguments don’t mean much when you argue with immoral men who have taken upon themselves the power to disregard the law when it is convenient for them to do so.
It was a long held popular understanding in American government that a direct tax on the earnings of the people was an evil of the worst kind, based on historical evidence of other nations; an income tax was a tool of tyrants.
The Anti-Federalist’s believed the Constitution did not shackle government power enough and wrote the best decent on the new federal Constitution on December 12, 1787 warning of what would become of this country if the Constitution as it was ratified was broadly interpreted in the future.
On taxes they warned:
“The power of direct taxation will further apply to every individual, as congress may tax land, cattle, trades, occupations, etc. in any amount, and every object of internal taxation is of that nature, that however oppressive, the people will have but this alternative except to pay the tax, or let their property be taken, for all resistance will be in vain. The standing army and select militia would enforce the collection.”
They couldn’t have been more correct or more prophetic.

Taxes are not immoral. I think it was Jesus who said it best… “Render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s”
The original constitution did not give the federal government the right to levy income taxes, then it was AMENDED. Now it is part of the constitution, just like the amendments that give you the right to carry a gun, gives women the right to vote, freed slaves etc, etc.
In the end the Anti-Federalists lost out, after all, our government structure is FEDERALIST. Of course the losers in that power struggle would disagree with how the winners chose to govern, just like the losers in any power struggle, they will disagree on how the winners choose to govern.
I dont understand this hero worship about the founding fathers. they werent gods, they were wealthy property owners who disagreed with the english monarch. just because they wrote something 200+ years ago, doesnt mean we should take it as infallible today or even give it any weight in contemporary arguments. they made mistakes, could not see into the future and were limited by the knowlege of the times. Governments evolve to meet the needs of the people, thats why the Articles of Confederation was scrapped, it did not give the federal government enough power.

Adam, the Democrats would love to throw out the Constitution, it’s the only thing holding you basck from all out socialism. Guess what, socialism has never worked, it has failed everywhere it has been tried.
If liberalism was so great whay is NY in such sad shape? This is one of the liberal meccas of the country and the economy is worse here than any where. Taxes 43% higher than Nat avg, overall tax burden 83% higher that Nat avg. Guess who controls Albany, the king Lib himself Shelly Silver your hero.
Where do you get this stuff, Democrats would love to throw out the constitution?!?!? I dont see the Democrats trying to amend the constitution to BAN stuff (flag burning, gay marriage)…there has never been an amendment that banned something and stayed in the consuitution. If you read and paid attention to what is actually going on in the world instead of listening to the voices in your head, you would know what you are talking about. Its the REPUBLICANs that want to turn back the clock on the progress made in this country since the civil rights movement. Just read the Federalist Sociey’s literature or any decision by Scalia, Thomas, or the two new ‘orginalists’.
I love pointing out the contradictions in fictional stories written over 2000 years ago, which people like you actually believe are real.
Wait, gay marriage in the Constitution? Where? Under civil Rights? If that’s your twisted arguement you are really twisted. Must I remind you that the Civil Rights act only passed the LBJ administration because the Republicans voted overwhelmingly for it. The Democrats were no where to be found.
My voices in my head are cool to listen to because they are correct. Your voices on the other hand come right out of the twisted Democrat handbook.
You really hate Thomas and Scalia don’t you. As far as I’m concerned we need 5 more of them. The only way the Democrats accomplish anything vs the Constitution is by activist liberal judges, that would rather legislate from the bench and put forth their liberal agenda instead of ruling by the written Law.
The abortion issue is another one that scares you to death. 80% of the American people are against the free, open and abortion on demand, laws like you want to keep on the books. My god, where would they get all those embryonic stem cells that you want to spend 100’s of millions of dollars on. Fake, false, failed research just so you can give them millions and millions of our tax dollars.
Take a walk, get a life, have another cup of coffee cause it’s time to wake up, you are aborting your very voter base.
