New York Daily News - Politics - Don’t duck debate, Faso tells Spitzer
ALBANY - Republican John Faso slammed Democratic rival Eliot Spitzer yesterday for ducking debate challenges and “attempting to sleepwalk” his way into the governor’s office.

Faso, who is lagging in early polls to the better-known, better-funded Spitzer, believes the gap would close if voters get to see the two square off in debates that would also feature Democratic candidate Thomas Suozzi.

“We’re going to debate all over this state, and he better show up,” Faso, the former Assembly GOP leader, said of Spitzer.

But the Spitzer camp wasn’t taking the bait.

Asked about Faso’s “sleepwalk” remarks, Spitzer campaign spokeswoman Christine Anderson said, “Eliot is campaigning tirelessly across the state. He has been talking about the issues that matter to New Yorkers and his visions that will bring a new direction for New York.”

I agree, what are you afraid of Eliot? Afraid that you will expose what you are all about, a man with a vision but no plan. He can talk for hours and say nothing. But is he meeting the real people, or is he speaking to the unions that have endorsed him? I haven’t seen him locally talking to small groups like Suozzi did tonight.

Tonight I went and saw Tom Suozzi, he is a Democrat I can vote for, he has a record of reforming his county, he has a record of doing what Spitzer only says he will do.. I am sick and tired of false promises and a bag of hot air and that is what Spitzer is.

Tom Suozzi answered every question asked of him in the 1 1/2 hours he stood in fron of the room full of people. I liked what he had to say and the Passion he has to get things done.
