State should disclose how it spends taxes — Page 1 — TimesUnion.com
Congratulations to you for your lawsuit against Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver. They should not conceal the names of state lawmakers who have spent millions of dollars in taxpayer money on pork barrel projects called member items. This is taxpayer money, not their own private fund to do with as they want.
This would not have been called to my attention had you not printed the article on the front page of your newspaper. You need to keep this story alive and on the front page to help the taxpayers of this state feel that there is somebody out there on their side and that there is someone who is willing to do something about it.
We New Yorkers pay the highest amount by far in local taxes, which you have pointed out in several articles, and we need to know where all that money is going. The member items money may be going to worthwhile causes, but taxpayers should be able to see who are benefiting, since taxpayers are footing the bills.
Please keep up your good work in our name, and keep it up on the front page above the fold.

Bravo! Now we need to keep the pressure on and continue to push for an open government in all of New York State.
