Money raised by school district stolen from safe
NORTH COLLINS, N.Y. Someone has stolen thousands of dollars raised for a cancer charity by a western New York school district.
That’s according to administrators at the North Collins School District, where dozens of students and even the superintendent shaved their heads for the “Goin’ Bald for Bucks” fund-raiser to benefit the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo.Superintendent Benjamin Halsey says eight-thousand dollars was taken from a safe at the high school in North Collins, in rural southern Erie County about 15 miles south of Buffalo.
State police are investigating the theft.
Incredible, truly is. Are people so desperate that they have to steal like this. What a shame.
