Faso and Weld will head to primary

New York Republicans designated former Assembly Minority Leader John Faso as their candidate for governor. However, the race that has split the party leaders will go to a primary as former Massachusetts Governor Bill Weld landed enough support to earn a spot on the ballot.

Legislative leaders said that for the last few weeks, they’ve been pushing for Faso and Weld to unite on one ticket. But despite repeated discussions, neither candidate will budge.

Faso said, “I think they’re daydreaming.”

“That’s not going to happen. It’s been evident it’s not going to happen either way for quite some time, so we’ll sail forth to September and may the better man win,” said Weld.

Now this is the way it should be done, both invited to speak at the convention and votes were cast. Neither one was locked out of the convention as Suozzi was.

This was an open process and now the people can decide.
Unlike the Democrats coronation.
