Bill would strengthen Freedom of Information Act law - The Business Review (Albany):
The majorities in the New York state Senate and Assembly said Monday they have reached agreement on a bill that would strengthen the state’s Freedom of Information Act.Primarily, the bill would allow courts to assess reasonable attorney’s fees and other litigation costs if the judge finds a government agency had no reasonable basis for denying access to the information.
The agreement also allows for attorney’s fees and other litigation costs to be ordered for people seeking information if agencies fail to respond to a request or an appeal on time.
Under current law, there really is no mechanism in place to protect a citizen’s right to know and to hold an agency accountable for denying a reasonable request for information,” said state Sen. John DeFrancisco (R-Syracuse), sponsor of FOIL legislation.
The agreement was announced by state Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno and Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver.
and this makes me wonder how much money the Law firms are apt to make.

Seems like everything they do benefits the trial lawyers in one way or the other. Sheldon Silver runs one of the biggest law firms and he makes millions from his own legislation.
Makes me sick that he runs the state and I had nothing to do with voting for him or Bruno. They both need to go.
