Gubernatorial hopeful castigates state party

Gubernatorial hopeful Thomas R. Suozzi says nobody ever should question his lifelong Democratic credentials.

Even his father, he points out, was a Democratic officeholder in the 1940s.

But when New York Democrats gather in Buffalo May 30-31 to nominate their statewide slate, Suozzi wants no part of them.

He will boycott the convention because he will not have enough support to qualify for a speaking part, he says, and he is already relishing the role of skunk at the party.

“The reality is that I’m a loyal, true blue Democrat,” he said. “But our party apparatus in the state of New York is part of the dysfunction.”

Good for him, as far as I am concerned it is time for candidates to start working away from the Party lines and their policies that have driven this state to the brink of destruction. Spitzer is just that, he is a party hack and as long as the party and the unions endorse him, people should stay away and vote Suozzi in the Dem Primary.

I might just join him in his rally!
